Asif Hajiyev, professor of Azerbaijan University, participated online in the international round table on "Literature on the Battle of Stalingrad: reception and translation" held by Central Library of Volgogradof Russian Federation named after M.K.Agashina and Volgograd State Social Pedagogical University. At the event, which was held with the participation of influential scientists from Russia, China, India, Belarus, Bulgaria, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Serbia, and Iran, Professor Asif Hajiyev spoke about the great contribution of Azerbaijan to the historic victory, including the participation of thousands of our compatriots, and the awarding of orders and medals to 1,600 Azerbaijanis for their heroism. He said that the sacred memory of the Battle of Stalingrad and its participants lives in the national memory of our people. Asif Hajiyev noted that in connection with our common victory in the Second World War, including the Battle of Stalingrad, various anniversary events are held in Azerbaijan with the participation of members of the Azerbaijan Veterans Council, heroes of the Battle of Stalingrad, and veterans are given special care.

In the speech, it was brought to the attention of the participants that the literary reception of the Battle of Stalingrad and the war in general in Azerbaijan is quite wide and multifaceted. It was reported that the subject of war is studied in secondary schools operating in Azerbaijan, including Russian-speaking schools, which number up to five hundred, and historical memory is instilled in children in classes and educational events outside the classroom. At the same time, it was noted that academic and student research was conducted in Azerbaijan's higher education institutions, Russian language and literature departments of universities, and other humanitarian majors in Azerbaijani and Russian language departments about artistic works and historical events dedicated to the Second World War, as well as the Battle of Stalingrad.

In his speech, Professor Asif Hajiyev said that the topic of war is particularly relevant for the people of Azerbaijan, that the Republic of Azerbaijan, which has been invaded by the neighboring country Armenia for thirty years with territorial claims and whose lands were occupied, has now freed its historical territories from occupation, and as stated by President Ilham Aliyev, friendship and cooperation with all countries He also emphasized that he is determined to establish the relationship.
