An International seminar on Multiculturalism in the Caucasus was held
An international seminar on “Multiculturalism in the Caucasus” was held with the participation of academic staff of the Department of Translation and Philology and the Departments of Political and Social Sciences of Azerbaijan University, as well as the Akaki Tsereteli State University of Georgia. At the opening of the seminar, which was organized in a hybrid format, it was emphasized that representatives of all nations and religions live peacefully in Azerbaijan, and it was noted that multiculturalism and tolerance are an integral part of our state policy. It was noted that today, in different parts of the world, clashes and wars continue to occur on political, religious, and ethnic grounds, and new hotspots of instability and conflicts emerge. There is no alternative to peace. Therefore, all countries of the world must mobilize their efforts to ensure peace.
The reports by Asif Hajiyev, professor of Azerbaijan University, doctor of philology on “Historical geography and Azerbaijani multiculturalism”, representatives of Akaki Tsereteli State University of Georgia – doctor of philology, Professor Irine Chachanidze and PhD in philology Tamar Guchua on “Language and cultural issues in the Georgian diaspora of Baku” (according to the Georgian emigrant press of the first half of the 20th century), Elvin Talishinsky, head of the Department of Political and Social Sciences of Azerbaijan University, doctor of philosophy in political sciences on “The importance of the concept of multiculturalism in the modern politics of Azerbaijan”, lecturers of the Department that is Abbas Gurbanov, PhD in history on “The role of the family in the formation of national identity”, Rauf Samadov, Ph.D. in philosophy on “Azerbaijan as a unique example of religious tolerance”, Afig Nadirov on “Religious diversity as a component of multiculturalism: the historical development process of religious diversity in Azerbaijan”, Asif Bayramov on “Caucasus peoples and multicultural foundations of cultural unity” were heard at the seminar.
At the event, it was noted that Azerbaijani-Georgian relations are based on mutual respect and trust. It was reported that the issue of comprehensive development and further strengthening of relations between Azerbaijan and Georgia was always the focus of the country's leaders. It was also emphasized that the seminar would be useful in establishing scientific relations.
Professor of Akaki Tsereteli State University Irine Chachanidze noted that the seminar was organized on the initiative of Professor Asif Hajiyev and thanked everyone who contributed to the organization of the event, including the participants, for their support.
