A seminar was held at Azerbaijan University on “Protection of consumers’ rights”

State Service of Anti-Monopoly Policy and Protection of Consumers’ rights” of the Ministry of Economy held a seminar on”Protection of consumers’ rights is our first priority” for the teacher-student staff of the Faculty of Business and Economics of the Azerbaijan University.  The seminar was conducted by Yusif Huseynov, the director of the Sector of Study, Awareness and International Relations Sector and Araz Aliyev, the deputy head of the State Service of Protection of Consumers’ Rights. Approximately 100 teachers and students participated in the event.

The event was opened by the professor Yusif Gasimov, the Vice-rector of the University for Scientific Works, who highlighted the role of awareness in the development of consumers’ activity and the importance of seminars and conferences held with the support of the State Service in this regard. Araz Aliyev delivered a speech about the history of laws on consumers’ rights, admission of such laws all across the globe and  their application in Azerbaijan. He gave information about the work implemented by the State Service on Anti-Monopoly policy and Protection of Consumers’ Rights. Yusif Huseynov delivered a speech on “Every consumer should know his right”.

The participants of the seminar were informed of the protection of consumers’ rights, compliance with the requirements of trade and service rules, activities conducted in terms of enhancing service culture and the issues consumers should pay attention to when buying products, organization of legal awareness in terms of protection of consumers’ rights and importance of increasing the knowledge of consumers in this field. Seminar materials and booklets were handed over to the  participants. It was mentioned that, the consumers that face with violation of their rights can turn to the Call Information Center 195-2. Those who do not comply with the consumers’ rights shall be punished by the Code of Administrative Offences and Criminal Code.

The event was concluded with answering the questions.
