The textbook “Informatics for Economics and its processing in Excel” has been published, the authors of which are Asif Pashayev, dean of the Information and Communication Technologies Faculty of the Azerbaijan University, and Nurdan Agayeva, senior lecturer of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science. 

The main purpose of the textbook, consisting of 192 pages, is to instill in students studying in various economic specialties and areas at the bachelor's and master's level of higher educational institutions the necessary knowledge about informatization of society and economics in the information technology environment, methods and means of solving economic management issues.

The textbook devoted to the processing of economic information in Excel, examined interesting topics and presented in Excel with simple examples. Cash calculation, preparation of annual reports, consumer loans calculated with simple and compound interest and similar topics were processed in Excel, as well as theory of financial functions applied in the fields of economics, banking and finance, and issues related to them have been solved. 

When preparing the textbook, special attention was paid to both provision of theoretical knowledge and implementation of practical tasks. The necessary theoretical information for implementation of each laboratory work was given in the textbook, the functions of processing economic, financial, banking operations and similar tasks in the Excel program and the rules of their practical use were explained with examples. 

Variants of suitable types of tasks and control questions are included for free solving at the end of laboratory work.
