President Ilham Aliyev has declared 2021 the "Year of Nizami Ganjavi" in Azerbaijan on the occasion of the 880th anniversary of the great Azerbaijani poet and thinker Nizami Ganjavi. A number of events are being held at Azerbaijan University in connection with this significant event.

According to the action plan, the results of research and journalistic articles on the literary heritage of the great poet will be published in the scientific journal of the University "Silk Road" and the corporate information journal "Caglayan". In particular, a special issue of the "Silk Road" magazine will be dedicated to the work of Nizami Ganjavi.

During the year, lectures on the life and work of the great poet, meetings of scholars with students and an essay competition among students on this topic are planned.

The action plan envisages the organization of scientific events such as conferences, round tables, seminars dedicated to the 880th anniversary of Nizami Ganjavi, book exhibitions reflecting his artistic heritage, and the establishment of the Nizami Ganjavi Auditorium at the University.

The format of events will be determined depending on the course of the extreme situation caused by the pandemic.
