Seminar on "The long way to the World Bank from usuriousness" was held  at the School of Business and Economics at Azerbaijan University today. The Deputy Dean of the faculty Natig Mammadov conducted  the seminar.

It was noted that the world's first banking services are supposed to be existed since ancient Sumerian and Babylonia in the seminar. In 3500 BC "Maket" established in the Sumerians was the first bank structure.

The students were provided with the useful information about the origin and etymology of the word "Bank", the beginning of modern banking activity, the establishment of the first banks, the criteria for the banks' evaluation by customers, the world's oldest 10 banks which still continue their activities today, types of banks and the World Bank Group at the event.
