The opening of "Shusha" auditorium at Azerbaijan University took place. The auditorium was established to ensure the implementation of the Order by President of the Azerbaijan Republic dated January 5, 2022 on declaring 2022 as the "Year of Shusha" in the Republic of Azerbaijan and the action plan of Azerbaijan University within the "Year of Shusha".

It was noted at the event that Shusha is of great strategic importance for Azerbaijan due to its historical and cultural heritage, as well as its geographical location. The loss of Shusha in 1992 was one of the saddest and most devastating events in the history of Azerbaijan. 28 years later, on November 8, 2020, the planting of our tricolor flag in the city of Shusha had a serious impact on the course of the 44-day Patriotic War, conditioned the success of our country both in the military field and in diplomacy. November 8th was written in the history of Azerbaijan as one of the happiest, most glorious and proud days. It was noted at the event that Shusha was declared the capital of Azerbaijani culture in 2021 by President Ilham Aliyev. Last week, at the session of the Permanent Council of Ministers of Culture of the International Organization of Turkic Culture, Shusha was elected the "Cultural Capital of the Turkic World" for 2023. Shusha deserves to be the cultural capital of the world.

It was noted that the opening of the auditorium at Azerbaijan University will be the beginning of the events dedicated to the culture, history, personalities,

strategic importance of Shusha, the ongoing restoration and reconstruction work carried out in the city, its tourism potential throughout the year.
