The students of Azerbaijan University took part in the 5^th countrywide knowledge contest "Heydar Aliyev and Azerbaijan history" held at Heydar Aliyev Center.

The event started with the national anthem, featured a video showing national leader Heydar Aliyev's speech on youth.

The project, organized by Heydar Aliyev Center and supported by the Ministry of Education, aims to study the life and activity of the nationwide leader of the Azerbaijani nation, immortalize and promote his heritage among youth, as well as increasing the interest of the younger generation in science and education.

This year 47 teams of  higher education institutions competed  in the knowledge contest which is held annually since 2014.

There were 3 rounds and 12 questions covering the history and culture of Azerbaijan, as well as the heritage of national leader Heydar Aliyev were asked in each round. The winning teams were defined by the total number of points gained in the rounds and then they were rewarded. Representatives of Heydar Aliyev Center, the Ministry of Education and the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan were present at the jury.

Azerbaijan University team scored 22 points and was in the top 10.
