With organization of the “IRELI” Public Union, support of the Agency for State Support to NGOs and with partnership of the West Azerbaijan Community, the program “Increasing the role of young people in the process of returning to the WHOLE West Azerbaijan” has been launched. Within the framework of the program, presentations have been launched in higher educational institutions. The first event in this direction was held at Azerbaijan University.

At the beginning of the meeting, which was attended by more than 100 young people, the National Anthem was played, and the memory of the martyrs who died for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan was commemorated with a minute of silence.

The event was opened by the head of the Department of Political Sciences of Azerbaijan University, PhD in Political Sciences Elvin Talyshinski. Welcoming the guests, head of the Department thanked the “IRELI” Public Union for holding the first meeting within the program “Increasing the role of young people in the process of returning to the WHOLE West Azerbaijan” at Azerbaijan University. Elvin Talyshinski, who wished success in the work of the program, called on young people to be active in processes.

Then, the secretary general of the “IRELI” Public Union Ilgar Akhundov informed about the activities to be held within the program. It was noted that in the next stages of the project, it is planned to create initiative groups in order to instill in young people the history, culture and geography of Western Azerbaijan, to correctly and in detail convey the realities of Azerbaijan to the international community. Within the framework of the program, the initiative groups also plan to prepare videos containing the historical facts of Western Azerbaijan.

In the continuation of the event, head of the Scientific and Organizational Department of Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University, PhD. in Philological Sciences, Prof. Ibrahim Bayramov made a report. The report noted that the ethnic existence of our compatriots living for thousands of years in the territory of present-day Armenia, which has historically been the territory of Azerbaijan, was ended by deportations, and the destruction of their cultural heritage was carried out at the level of Armenian state policy in recent centuries. It was noted that as a result of the last ethnic cleansing, which began in 1988, tens of thousands of Azerbaijani families' property and cultural heritage samples were robbed and appropriated by Armenians. Ibrahim Bayramov stressed the importance of the participation of every Azerbaijani youth in the implementation of “Increasing the role of young people in the process of returning to the WHOLE West Azerbaijan” and called on young people to mobilize in this regard.

It should be noted that the main goal of the program “Increasing the role of young people in the process of returning to the WHOLE West Azerbaijan” is to promote the history of Western Azerbaijan, the realities of Azerbaijan, increase the participation of young people at the local and international levels, create an abundance of multimedia and electronic resources related to Western Azerbaijan, as well as increase awareness among young people about our historical lands.
