Meeting with the mothers of martyrs was held at Azerbaijan University on the initiative of the Varis Public Union for the Care of Martyr and Veterans Families. The National Anthem was played at the event, and memory of our martyrs who fell for sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan was honored with a minute of silence. 

Opening the event with an introductory speech, Сhairman of the Public Union, a permanent 3rd degree disabled person of the Karabakh War, veteran Jeyhun Agayev informed the audience about purpose of event. In his speech, the Union Chairman emphasized importance of popularizing the heroism of our martyrs and perpetuating their memory.

The head of Social Sciences the Department of Azerbaijan University, Prof. Gabil Aliyev noted in his speech that the Azerbaijani people always highly honor memory of their martyrs. Our glorious army pleased with its victory in the Karabakh war the souls of thousands of our martyrs who fell in the Patriotic War and have fallen from the beginning of the conflict from 1988 to this day: “I would like to thank all the mothers of martyrs who raised brave, courageous, patriotic children. As long as there is the Azerbaijani state and the Azerbaijani people, our martyrs will live in our memory,” head of the Department stressed in his speech.  

Then mothers of the Patriotic War the martyrs told about the glorious path of their children: Malakhat Ismayilova, mother of martyr Emin Ismailov, and Ziyafat Hajiyeva, mother of martyr Elmaz Hajiyev. 

Later, veteran of the Patriotic War Kenan Guliyev, chairman of the Patriotic Party of Azerbaijan Elvin Mahmudzade, chairman of the Social Support for the Families of Martyrs Public Union Almaz Zeynalova spoke and emphasized the importance of educating young generation in the spirit of patriotism and noted leading role of educational institutions in this process. 

People's Artist of the Republic of Azerbaijan Gulyaz Mammadova, Honored artist Rahila Bandaliyeva, composer Ruslan Safaroglu, singers Shahid Aliyev, Meydan Asgarov and Murad Lachinli also participated in the event and performed songs glorifying heroism and patriotism.
