Azerbaijan University hosted an event on the occasion of the 105th anniversary of formation of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan and June 26 - the Day of the Armed Forces. Reports of Vice-Rector for Scientific Affairs Yusif Gasimov and Head of the Political Sciences Department Elvin Talishinski, 1st year student of master's degree in the new and newest history of Azerbaijan Sakina Nadirova were heard at the event.

It was noted at the event that by the decision of the Government of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic in 1918, on June 26, the name of the Muslim Corps was changed to the Azerbaijani Special Corps and thus an important step was taken towards the creation of the National Armed Forces. According to the Order of the national leader Heydar Aliyev on may 22, 1998, the day of foundation of the Azerbaijani Special Corps – June 26 was declared the day of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and this date is annually celebrated as an official state holiday.

It was noted that during the leadership of national leader Heydar Aliyev in Azerbaijan, large-scale reforms in the field of Army building were carried out, and the Azerbaijani army became one of the main values of independence. The process of Army building has been successfully continued by the victorious Supreme Commander-in-chief, Mr. President Ilham Aliyev, and the enormous work done to modernize and improve the Armed Forces continues in the post-war period.

At the end, a literary and artistic composition dedicated to the National Army was presented.
