The educational seminar was held for the undergraduate and graduate social work students within the framework of fighting against the drugs in Azerbaijan University. The director of the Republican Centre of Narcology, head narcologist Araz Manuchehri stressed out the importance of educational events on narcology and enlightenment of people about the problems with narcomania.

Yusif Gasimov, vice-rector for scientific affairs introduced the guest to the students. vice-rector noted that narcomania is a global problem of the modern world and spoke off the harms of narcotics. Yusif Gasimov stated that narcotics injures people both morally and physically and called on students to stay away and make people around them to stay away from this trouble. He said: “ We shouldn’t consider them our enemies, but as ill peoples.

Head narcologist, Araz Manuchehri informed students about why narcomania is getting younger, risk factors that enable youngsters to use narcotics and the ways to eliminate them, features of narcomania, how drugs affect our bodies, terrible consequences, diseases that caused by narcotics and treatment process of drug addicts.

He gave statistics about drug addicts in our country and information about the activity of the Republican Centre of Narcology. He stated that services in the Centre undertook with the principles of volunteering.

Answering the questions of students on the topic, he also talked down about the harms of energy drinks used mostly by youngsters. He stated that the ingredients of such drinks such as a coffin, synthetic taurin etc. lead to narcotics addiction.

The seminar ended up with a discussion on the topic.
