Webinar dedicated to the 8 May - the International Thalassaemia Day was held with the initiative of the Department of Organisation of Social Work. The event held on ZOOM platform was moderated by Aygun Muradli, 1st-year graduate student studying Social Work in Different Areas of Life.

At first, general information was given about thalassaemia, then its causes, types, symptoms were explained. After that, discussions were held on medical rehabilitation of those suffering from the disease, their blood transfusion and bone marrow transplantation, negative effects of blood transfusion, spreading range of thalassaemia in the world and preventive measures, the establishment of Thalassemia International Federation and its activity, works done for thalassaemia in Azerbaijan, the role and activity of social workers etc.

On the webinar, together with graduate students of Azerbaijan University studying Social Work in Different Areas of Life, as well as students from the universities in Baku and regions, secondary school teachers, psychologists and people with thalassaemia also participated.
