The foremost figure of classical Azerbaijani literature, writer, playwright, pedagogue, literary critic, theater, public and political figure Abdurrahim bek Hagverdiyev’s 150th anniversary was organized and held online by the Department of Azerbaijani Language and Literature. The event was organized to mark the 150th anniversary of Abdurrahim bek Hagverdiyev, following the President’s Order dated January 31, 2020.

The head of the department of Azerbaijani language and literature Ulviyya Rahimova, Professor Farrahim Sadigov, Asif Hajiyev and Farhad Madatov gave information about life and work, socio-political activity, the history of philosophy of the prominent writer as well in their speech, metioned the theme, language and stylistic features of his works, also emphasized that his work is one of the spiritual treasures of the Azerbaijani people.

It was noted that Abdurrahim bek Hagverdiyev with his multifaceted activities left us an invaluable legacy. However, his literary heritage has not been adequately appreciated, and it is essential to involve the unexplored aspects of his work into research.

It was stated that the inclusion of his name into the list of the prominent figures and significant events of UNESCO for 2020-2021 is a tribute of his high works.

At the end, there were the speeches of the students of philology, dedicated to the literary and creativity of the prominent writer.
