As the partner of the Erasmus project  “Establishment of  Rectors’Conference   in Azerbaijan” (ECAR) Azerbaijan University,visited Poland for a week. Bakhtiyar Badalov, head of the International Relations Department, represented Azerbaijan University on the visit.

The first meeting of the business trip was organized at the Warsaw School of Economics.Nijat Mammadli ,adviser of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan,rectors and other authorized representatives of the Azerbaijan universities that are members of the project consortium ,as well as representatives of the Magna Charta Supervisory Board and the Hungarian Rectors Conference took part in the meeting.

Piotr Wachowiak ,rector of the Warsaw School of Economics,opened the event with an opening speech,greeted the guests and made a broad presentation about the educational institution .In his speech ,the rector gave information about the benefits of membership for the university in the Polish Rectors’Conference and activity of the Rectors’ Conference of Warsaw Higher Education Institutions.

Arkadiusz Mezyk,president of the Polish Rectors’ Conference,welcomed the Azerbaijan delegation on behalf of the conference and expressed their satisfaction with the cooperation.In his speech ,Arkadiusz Mezyk touched on the important points related to the establishment of the conference and gave detailed information to the event participants about the conference’s history,legal form,status,internal managment,main activities,decision-making process,permanent staff,as well as the duties of the conference secretariat. Arkadiusz Mezyk also talked about the contributions of the conference to the Polish higher education system,the proposals put forward in the direction of quality improvement and the successes achieved,and drew attention to the fact that the conference has close relations with the business world,media representatives and rectors’conferences of other European countries.

Then Rudolf  Smolarczyk,the head of the Central and Eastern Europe,East Asia Department of the German Rectors’ Conference made a speech and emphasized the importance  of  Rectors’Conference in  expanding the international cooperation of higher education institutions,as well as the coordinated activity of universities in the country and also gave information about the main goals of the German Rectors’ Conference,the composition and structure of its members.

At the end of the meeting,useful discussions were held between representatives of conferences of Azerbaijan universities and representatives of rectors.

It should be noted that Baku Business University is the coordinator of the Erasmus project called “Establishment of  Rectors’ Conference in Azerbaijan”(ECAR),in which Azerbaijan University is a partner.The main goal of the project covering years 2021-2024 is to develop a national network and cooperation between universities and other interested parties through the creation of rectors’ conference in accordance with national development strategies.
