Training of ECAR Project on “Strategic Planning and Management”

A two-day training on “Strategic Planning and Management” was held with the support of the Azerbaijan HR Institute within the framework of the Erasmus + project “Creation of the Rectors' Conference in Azerbaijan” in partnership with Azerbaijan University. The training was attended by vice-rectors and other leaders of 16 higher education institutions that are members of the project. Azerbaijan University was represented at the event by Vice-Rector for Scientific Affairs Yusif Gasimov.

Opening the event held at Baku Business University with introduction speech the rector of the university, Professor Ibad Abbasov, informed about the work done within the project. Adviser to the Minister of Education Nijat Mammadli emphasized the importance of planning and management in the effective management of higher education institutions.

On the first day of the training, Nazim Aliyev, who has international experience in management, discussed the importance of strategic planning, planning methods, involvement of stakeholders in the process, mission, vision and values, analysis of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. It also covered topics such as defining key performance indicators and preparing a budget.

On the next day of the training, participants were introduced to modern methods and forms of performance management, flexible management approach to achieve high-performance teamwork, its basic principles, as well as risk analysis and management, and participants showed presentations as strategic planning teams.

At the end of the two-day training, participants were awarded with certificates and gifts.

It should be noted that the main goal of the "Establishment of Rectors” Conference in Azerbaijan" (ECAR) project, coordinated by Baku Business University, is to develop a national network and cooperation between universities and other stakeholders through the establishment of a conference of rectors in accordance with national development strategies. The project will be implemented over 3 years.
