On December 3, Azerbaijan University held an event entitled “Differences do not matter”, dedicated to the International Day of Disabled Persons. The event was organized by the "Empathy" club, which functions as part of the "Organization of social affairs" department.

At the event, it was announced that the UN adopted the Declaration on the celebration of the International Day of Disabled Persons in 1992. The purpose of the establishment of this day is to increase public attention to people with disabilities and efforts to create conditions for their active participation in public life.

At the event, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities Safar Mammadov, Head of the Department of Organization of Social Affairs Tunzala Verdieva spoke about the topic of social security in our country for persons with disabilities, about steps in the field of their rehabilitation and integration into society. 2nd year students studying in the specialty "Social Affairs" listened to the lectures of Mehdizade Minara "What is disability and who are disabled people?", Mammadli Aytach "Disability and Society", Rustamov Agshin "Medical, biological approach to disability and strengthening community with people with disabilities", “ Askerova Fatima" Peace and social work with disabled people".

Speeches of chairman of the Empathy club Shalan Novruzov, club coordinator and organizer of the event, 3rd year student in Social Affairs Mahammad Alekperov, 3rd year student in management, motivator Natig Rahimli were heard on the topic of the rights of people with disabilities, the problems they face and ways of solving them.
