“Evaluation of Scientific Activity. Scientometric Databases” textbook authored by Latifa Agamaliyeva, Head of the Science Department of Azerbaijan University, has been published. The presented textbook will help doctoral students and researchers overcome the difficulties they face in compiling their scientific results at the modern level, publishing them in high-ranking journals using scientometric databases, creating and developing scientific profiles, and ultimately improving their scientific indicators.

The first chapter of the presented textbook discusses the history of scientometrics, the main scientometric indicators used in the “Web of Science” and “Scopus” indexing databases, methods of their calculation and their purpose. Moreover, the use of “Web of Science” and “Scopus” databases is described in detail.

The second chapter is devoted to the creation of author identifiers and profiles in various systems. This chapter describes in detail the obtaining of the Scopus Author Identifier, WoS (ResearcherID), ORCID, Science Index (eLIBRARY) and the creation of a Google Scholar author profile.

The third chapter is devoted to the use of scientific and social network resources. The procedure for registering and working in scientific network resources such as “Research Gate”, “Academia.edu”, and “Mendeley” is described in detail here.

The fourth chapter is devoted to some summary databases that serve as scientific resources for researchers, as well as help them choose appropriate journals to publish their articles. This chapter describes in detail the working principle of such summary databases as “ERIH PLUS”, “PubMed”, “MathSciNet”, “Chemical Abstracts Service”, “zbMATH Open”, “EconLit”, “GeoRef” and “Index Copernicus” from various fields of science.

The fifth chapter describes the requirements for the structure of scientific articles, the selection of journals and the process of submitting articles to the journal. In addition, the main factors contributing to the promotion of research results in the scientific community are indicated.

It should be noted that the author of the textbook Latifa Agamaliyeva is a PhD in mathematics. She is a specialist in the creation, and development of scientific journals and scientometric databases.
