The traditional student educational-research project “My Azerbaijan: the winning country, the victorious nation” organized by the Department of Azerbaijani Language and Literature at Azerbaijan University is dedicated to “2022 – Year of Shusha”. As part of the project, second-year students majoring in Philology (Azerbaijani language and literature) presented their research on the nature, history, culture, art, ethnography, and  outstanding personalities of our sacred city of Shusha, which was declared the cultural capital of Azerbaijan and the cultural capital of the Turkic world for 2023.  

Before presentation of the creative works, the project manager, Prof. Asif Hajiyev, spoke about the project and its significance. Asif Hajiyev noted that the “My Azerbaijan: the winning country, the victorious nation” project implemented in accordance with ideology of Azerbaijanism serves to develop a sense of patriotism and habits of independent research among students. Associate Prof. Safar Mammadov, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, and Associate Prof. Ulviya Rahimova, Head of the Department of Azerbaijani Language and Literature, highly appreciated the content and form of presentation of students' creative research work on the “My Azerbaijan: the winning country, the victorious nation” project and gave them their recommendations. 

After speeches the students presented results of their research summarizing materials collected during the semester based on various information sources, interviews with their parents and the elderly, personal observations. Part of the student's research is devoted to the shaheeds and veterans who fought in our army, who contributed to our glorious victory in the 44-day Patriotic War under command of the victorious Supreme Commander Ilham Aliyev.

It should be noted that the traditional student educational-research project “My Azerbaijan: the winning country, the victorious nation”, organically combining professional training, independent creative activity of students and their education in the spirit of patriotism, was launched in the 2021/2022 academic year. As part of the project, students conduct independent research during the semester, taking into account the curriculum requirements. The project will be continued in the following years.
