100 years have passed since the formation of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces. A solemn military parade is being held at Azadlig Square in Baku today to mark the centenary of the establishment of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijani Armed Forces was established in Ganja by the decision of the Parliament of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic dated June 26, 1918.

After the collapse of the Democratic Republic of Azerbaijan in 1920, the army was disbanded and on October 9, 1991, the Armed Forces were re-established by the Supreme Soviet's decision. In accordance with the tradition of historical heritage June 26 is celebrated as the Day of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces by the Decree of the national leader Heydar Aliyev dated May 22, 1998. The structure of the Armed Forces includes the Land Forces, the Air Force and Air Defense Force Troops and the Naval Forces. The process of building the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan continue and our army is in the process of development and improvement. Military operations in the last two years prove that the Azerbaijani Army is ready to fulfill the order of the Supreme Commander - in - Chief of the General Staff - to liberate our lands from occupation, to restore the territorial integrity of our country, to glorify our victory flag in Khankendi, Shusha, Lachin and all the occupied territories.
