Konul Nuriyeva, the teacher of Finance and Economics Department of Azerbaijan University participated in the international congress “Azerbaijan Democratic Republic in the 100^th anniversary” held at Anadolu University, Turkey by presenting an article within the framework of the 100^th anniversary events of the establishment of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic.   

In the article titled "The Role of Tourism in the Non-Oil Sector of Azerbaijan", the issues of tourism development as non-oil sector, existing problems and steps for the development of the field, "View to the Future: 2020 Concept", and relevance of tourism sector and the impact of tourism development on the other non-oil sectors in the "Strategic Road Map" were investigated.

The congress was held with the organization of Eskishehir Azerbaijanis Association and Anadolu University Research Center for the Turkish World (TUDAM) and with the support of Center for Human Capital Development of Azerbaijan (INDEX) and the Turkish International Cooperation and Development Agency (TIKA).

542 applications from 13 countries were submitted to the International Congress in which economical, social, political and cultural aspects of the 100-year history of the ADR were discussed.  As a result of two-stage evaluation, 60 of them were included in the program. These articles belong to the representatives of 39 universities and 2 public organizations, including Azerbaijan, Turkey and Northern Cyprus Turkish Republic.   14 of the articles, included in the program, are written by the Azerbaijani authors.
