The webinar on "Nizami Ganjavi in the context of Azerbaijani studies" was held at Azerbaijan University. The event was organized by the Department of Azerbaijani Language and Literature in accordance with the Order "On declaring 2021 the Year of Nizami Ganjavi" signed by President Ilham Aliyev within the "Nizami Year" action plan of the university.

The head of the department Ulviya Rahimova said that Nizami Ganjavi's work was in the center of attention of world oriental studies and that the great poet's "Khamsa" was one of the rare pearls of world poetic and philosophical thought. Ulviya Rahimova noted that Nizami Ganjavi's legacy played a great role in the development of not only literature in the world, but also in the East, as well as socio-political thought and other types of art. His works gave a great impetus to the development of miniature art in the East.

Professor Gorkhmaz Guliyev compared Nizami Ganjavi and William Shakespeare in terms of their impact on world literature and noted that the "Year of Nizami Ganjavi" poses great challenges to Azerbaijani literature in this area. The way to present the genius poet's work to the world is possible through his competent analysis and study of his work on the basis of scientific concepts. In his speech, Gorkhmaz Guliyev shared his position with the participants on the preparation of an encyclopedia on the work of Nizami Ganjavi, the discussions on the quality of translations of his works. Professor Gorkhmaz Guliyev informed about the poets and writers influenced by Nizami Ganjavi's literary heritage, the main factors determining the status of the great poet in world literature and stressed the importance of high-level translation of his works into Azerbaijani.

Professor of the department Maharram Gasimli spoke about the importance of republishing philological translations of Nizami Ganjavi's works, noted the importance of evaluating the research of the great poet's

legacy by researchers such as Rustam Aliyev, Khalil Yusifli and shared his views on the work to promote Nizami Ganjavi in the world.

In his speech, Professor of the Department Asif Hajiyev drew attention to the historical sources in the works of Nizami Ganjavi, noting that Azerbaijani literature is dominated by ancient culture in the person of a prominent poet. He praised the launch of the Nizami Ganjavi Center for Azerbaijani and Caucasus Studies at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom in 2013, noting that it is time to make great strides in introducing Nizami Ganjavi to the world.

In the speeches, the genius poet's work was considered in the context of Azerbaijani studies and discussions were held on the topic.
