The next pandemic webinar was organized by the Department of Finance and Economics at Azerbaijan University. The webinar on “Negative effects of the pandemic on the economy and state measures to prevent it” was conducted by the head of the department Nariman Boyukkishi.

Professor of the department Rovshan Guliyev spoke about the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the oil and energy sector of Azerbaijan, the factors that led to the decline in demand and falling oil prices, as well as possible work to revive the country`s economy after the pandemic. The professor noted that Azerbaijani oil has no rivals in aviation, and after the resumption of passenger traffic, the oil will restore its value.

In his speech, the teacher of the department Elmin Nurmammadov explained the negative effects of the pandemic on various sectors of the Azerbaijan economy with the presenting figures. Elmin Nurmammadov noted that the quarantine regime has positive impacts such as the strike on the shadow economy, the formation of a culture of e-services, the emergency of new activities.

The head of the department Nariman Boyukkishi informed about the state measures and social support projects implemented to prevent the negative impact of the pandemic on the country`s economy.

The teacher of the department Gulana Isayeva spoke about the impact of the pandemic on the state budget.

The webinar continued with discussions on the topic, and the questions asked by the participants were answered.

It should be noted that the next webinar will be organized today by the Department of Mathematics and Informatics on “Transition from virtual communication to virtual education”. The start time of the webinar is 13:30.
