Preparatory work and organizational issues for the international conference on “Social Work & Social Research” to be held on November 24-25, 2023 and organized by Azerbaijan University jointly with Washington University in St. Louis (USA), Sakarya University (Turkey) and the Center for Social Research (Azerbaijan) was discussed. The online meeting organized for this purpose was attended by representatives of the Center for Social Research of Washington University in St. Louis – director of the Center, chairman and plenary speaker of the Conference, professor Michael Sherraden; Deputy Director and plenary speaker of the Center Lissa Johnson; the employee of the Center, co-chair of the scientific committee and plenary speaker Aytakin Huseynli; professor of the School of Social Work and plenary speaker Jin Huang; head of the Public Relations Department of the Center Chris Leiker, representatives of the Azerbaijan University: chairman of the Organizing Committee, vice-rector for Scientific Affairs of Azerbaijan University Yusif Gasimov, head of the Science Department Latifa Agamaliyeva and head of the Public Relations Department Lala Dilanova.

During the meeting, information was given about the process of preparation for the conference, research works presented, an exchange of views was held on topical issues related to the promotion and agenda of the event, as well as other issues on the agenda, and proposals were voiced.

It should be noted that the purpose of the international conference is to join researchers working in the social sphere to discuss topical issues in the field of Social Work and social policy, to exchange experience in the development and application of modern technologies, social practices aimed at increasing the social and psychological level of various categories of the population. The Conference, whose official language is English, will provide a scientific platform for discussing the practice of social work in times of crisis, the development of education in the field of social work, the establishment of international standards in this area, social protection of vulnerable groups and other similar issues.
