A new textbook on the subject of “History of Azerbaijan” for the eighth grade of secondary schools was published under the co-authorship of Professor Gabil Aliyev, Head of the Department of Social Sciences at the Azerbaijan University. The textbook is prepared under the guidance of academician Yagub Mahmudov.

The textbook covers important historical events and complex socio-political processes in Azerbaijan from the middle of the sixteenth to the early nineteenth centuries.

The textbook contains detailed information about the historical events and facts that our people are proud of. The schoolchildren will get acquainted with the historical processions of national hero Koroghlu, our famous historical figures Shah Abbas II, Nadir Shah Afshar, Agha Mohammad Shah Qajar, Haji Chalabi Khan, Panahali khan Javanshir, Kubali Fatali khan, Ganjali Javad khan and many others.

Based on the materials in the textbook, Ottoman-Safavi Wars, internal conflicts that shattered the support of the Safavids state, the Age of Khans, the distribution of Azerbaijani lands between Russia and the Qajar states, the Gulustan and Turkmenchay treaties of the world. It is possible to get information about the serious consequences, the genocide of modern times and the historical roots of the occupation, the migration of Armenians to the territory of Northern Azerbaijan, the events that underlie the idea of creating a so-called "Armenian province".
