The topic “The problem of moral duty in characters of classicistic tragedy” was discussed at the next meeting of the Reading club, functioning under leadership of Khayala Jafarova, senior lecturer of the Azerbaijani Language and Literature Department of Azerbaijan University, PhD in Philology.

The event was opened with an introductory speech by head of the department, Ph.D. in philology, associate professor Ulviyya Rahimova, who informed the students about aesthetic trend of classicism and noted its leading literary and theoretical principles. Then the senior teacher of the Department Khayala Jafarova shared her thoughts on the work of Jean Jacques Racine and Pierre Corneille.  

The event continued with the fact that philology students conducted a content analysis of Racine's tragedy “Andromache” and Corneille's tragedy “Sid” through a presentation. Students exchanged opinions not only about oeuvre of the authors, but also about the nuances and problems that the authors wanted to convey to the reader in their tragedies. Philological analysis of the named tragedies formed the leading direction of discussion. 

The meeting was completed with discussions on the topic.
