“Shusha is the crown of Azerbaijan” essay competition winners were awarded

Winners of the “Shusha is the crown of Azerbaijan” essay competition (in Azerbaijani and English) dedicated to the "Year of Shusha" held among the students of Azerbaijan University were awarded. Emilya Mahmudova, a third-year student majoring in Translation (English) took first place in the essay competition in English, Nazenin Khaliqverdiyeva, a fourth-year student majoring in Philology (English language and literature) took second place, and Naila Manafova, a fourth-year student majoring in Translation (English) was awarded with third place. The winner of the essay competition in Azerbaijani language was Nurana Mammadova, a first-year student majoring in State and public relations. 

The winners were presented with diplomas and gifts by Ulviyya Rahimova, head of the Azerbaijani language and literature Department, and Samira Mammadova, head of the Translation and philology Department. The department heads noted that the essays submitted in 2 languages for the competition that started in October were evaluated by the jury from an artistic and creative point of view, and congratulated the winners. 

The purpose of the essay competition is to study by students of culture, art, history, outstanding personalities of the city of Shusha, which is the cradle of our national culture, and the formation of their creative writing skills.

The competition was held in order to ensure the implementation of the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated January 05, 2022 on declaring 2022 the “Year of Shusha” in the Republic of Azerbaijan and the action plan of the Azerbaijan University within the framework of the “Year of Shusha”.
