A literary and artistic event entitled “Shusha: the cradle of our culture” was held at Azerbaijan University. The event dedicated to the “Year of Shusha” was jointly organized by the Departments of Azerbaijani Language&Literature and Translation &Philology. 

At the beginning of the event, the dear memory of those who died for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan was commemorated with a minute of silence.

At the event, a literary composition was presented with the participation of students majoring in Philology (Azerbaijani language and literature), Philology (English language and literature), Socio-psychological service in education, State and public relations, and poems of famous poets of Karabakh were performed as well. The composition presents national dances and songs, scenes featuring fragments from the life of the Karabakh Khanate, the cultural capital of Azerbaijan Shusha, as well as Khan's daughter Khurshidbanu Natavan.

At the end of the event, head of the Azerbaijani Language and Literature Department Associate Prof. Ulviyya Rahimova, and head of the Translation and Philology Department Associate Prof. Samira Mammadova spoke and informed participants about the essence of the event. Heads of the Departments emphasized the exceptional role of Shusha literary environment in the history of Azerbaijani culture and literature. They expressed their gratitude to Solmaz Suleymanova, the lecturer of the Azerbaijani Language and Literature Department, and to the participating students for organizing this event.
