Students of the Humanities Faculty of Azerbaijan University Zivar Mammadova, Rashad Kelbiyev, Nahid Mammadov, Aghagulu Aliyev, Ahmed Nazarli and Musa Khambatli took part in the VIII Republican Knowledge Competition “Heydar Aliyev and history of Azerbaijan”. The competition, which has already become traditional and is the eighth this year, organized by the Heydar Aliyev Center with the support of the Ministry of Science and Education, was attended by students from 49 higher educational institutions of the country. The Azerbaijan University team took 9th place in the top ten.

It should be noted that the project is aimed at studying the history of Azerbaijan, the life and multifaceted activities of national leader Heydar Aliyev, and raising awareness among young people. The competition participants tested their knowledge on the topics “Heydar Aliyev and the years of independence of Azerbaijan”, “Heydar Aliyev and the Karabakh truth”, “Azerbaijan's Victory in the Patriotic War”, “Revival of Karabakh” and etc. At the preparatory stage, the teams took part in a training organized at the Heydar Aliyev Center and conducted research on topics based on the archival materials of the Heydar Aliyev Museum.

Each higher education institution was represented by a team of 6 people at the competition. According to the rules, the jury evaluated each correct answer with one point and the winning team is determined by the total number of points.
