Head of the Department of Social Work Organization of Azerbaijan University, researcher of autism, Doctor of Philosophy in Pedagogy Tunzala Verdiyeva participated in the presentation of the mobile application "AutismDERS" for children with autism and the website www.autizmders.az within the project implemented by the order of the Social Services Agency under the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection.

At the event, which was also attended by representatives of government and non-governmental organizations, the head of the department spoke on "Developmental characteristics of children with autism." In her speech, Tunzala Verdiyeva spoke about the research history of autism syndrome, developmental features, psycho-social problems faced by parents of children with autism, ways of socialization and integration of children with autism into society.

Chairman of the Social Services Agency Vugar Behbudov noted the importance of the new project for both children with disabilities and their parents.

It was noted that the aim of the project is to increase the skills of parents in the social rehabilitation of children with disabilities, to expand the application of innovative solutions in this area.

Through AutismDERS, parents will be able to use video materials prepared with the participation of child psychologists, speech therapists, private educators and therapeutic sports teachers. In this way, they will be able to support their children to be covered by a number of rehabilitation measures at home.

Users of the application will be able to make reminders for video lessons according to a certain schedule and easily carry out individual planning. The application will also serve as a resource center for parents on child development.

At the initial stage, 200 video lessons in 7 directions were compiled and posted on both the website and the mobile application. Training programs and resources of specialists from a number of countries were used in preparing the content of the video materials.

Every parent with a child with a disability, especially one with autism, can benefit from video lessons that teach individual homework.

“AutismDERS” mobile application can be used on both iOS (Apple Store) and Android (Google Play) smartphones.
