A round table dedicated to the 200th anniversary of Ashug Alasgar, a prominent representative of Azerbaijani ashug art, was organized at the Azerbaijani Language and Literature Department of Azerbaijan University with the participation of faculty members. Opening the event, the head of the department Ulviya Rahimova informed about the life and creative-activity of Ashug Alasgar, noting that the celebration of the 200th anniversary of the great ashug in our country is an important event in the development of literary history. Continuing and developing the traditions of the classics of ashug poetry, Ashug Alasgar enriched our oral art with his artistic heritage, which includes the genres of ashug poetry, as well as new genres of ashug poetry.

Professor of the department Maharram Gasimli said that Ashug Alasgar is the passport of Azerbaijani ashug art. His poems are one of the rare pearls of our national poetry. All the images of the ashug's poem are reflected in the poet's work. Maharram Gasimli said that his book "Lyrics" was published by the Ashugs Union. An anthology entitled "Legends about Ashug Alasgar" was also published. The scientist stressed that a lot of work has been done in Azerbaijan on Ashug Alasgar, and now his promotion at the international level is a priority. His homeland is under Armenian rule, so special attention should be paid to its promotion in the Turkic world. Alasgar was highly educated. When Dada Alasgar says, the image of Goycha always comes to mind.

Professor of the department Gorkhmaz Guliyev noted that realism in Ashug Alasgar's poetry is extremely natural, stronger and more grounded. His work is an artist with special merits in the ashug-like embodiment of the existential problems of the Azerbaijani people. It is necessary for our specialists and folklorists to deeply study and study these aspects of Ashug Alasgar's work and to publish scientific works and articles.

Farhad Madatov, associate professor of the department, said that it would be one-sided to explain the features of Ashug Alasgar's poetry only with his time, environment and powerful talent. Because our poetic tradition also played an important role in the development of Alasgar. M.P.Vagif, M.V. Our poets, such as Vidadi and A.Nabati, had a benevolent influence on our folklore, especially our ashug poetry.

It was noted in the speeches that Ashug Alasgar is the peak of Ashug art in the time period from Gurbani in the 16th century to Ashug Shamshira in the 20th century. He is an artist who raised the art of ashug to the highest level in the Turkic world. It was noted that Ashug Alasgar created the charter of ashug literature. He differs from other master ashugs in terms of master ashugs. His masterpieces are also master classes. Our ashugs have not yet been able to go beyond the circle of art drawn by Ashug Alasgar. He is the founder of the longest-lived school of ashug literature. The event was organized by the Department of Azerbaijani Language and Literature in accordance with the Order of President Ilham Aliyev on the celebration of the 200th anniversary of Ashug Alasgar on February 18, 2021.
