Assoc. Prof. Rashad Mastaliyev, Head of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Azerbaijan University, paticipated in the 9th International Scientific Conference on Control and Optimization with Industrial Applications/COIA-2024 organized by the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport of Azerbaijan, Istanbul Cerrahpasha University, Agri Ibrahim Chechen University and the Scientific Research Institute of Applied Mathematics under Baku State University. The conference held on August 27-29, 2024 was organized in a hybrid format in Istanbul Cerrahpasha University, Turkiye. 

During the opening ceremony of the conference, speeches were delivered by Şamil Ayrım, member of the Grand National Assembly of Turkiye, Prof. Erol Ince, the Vice Rector of Istanbul Cerrahpasha University, Sabiha Gul Dogan, CEO of Katoder Company, and co-chairs of the conference’s organizing committee Acad. Fikrat Aliev and Ahmet Ocak Akdemir. 

This traditionally organized, three-day event brought together scientists and experts from around the world in the field of management and optimization, discussing topics such as control theory, optimization, intelligent systems, fuzzy control, computational methods, networks and telecommunications, mathematical modeling and simulation, as well as applications in industry and economics, identification, and other topics.  

The conference was attended by more than 200 mathematicians and experts from more than 30 countries of the world, including 7 invited speakers working in the field of optimization and management. 

Rashad Mastaliyev, Head of the Department of Mathematics and Management, presented a report on the topic “Analog of the Euler equation and second order necessary optimality conditions for Rosser type continuous stochastic control problem”. The report was well-received by participants, with various questions posed to him regarding the topic, and a discussion on the applicability of the results in decision-making, economic problem-solving, complex technical system design, and other practical areas. 

It should be noted that COIA-2024 is technically supported by IEEE Turkiye for the first time, and the accepted articles will be submitted for inclusion in IEEE Xplore. Also, all articles accepted and reported at the conference will be presented for indexing in the “Web of Science: Conference Proceedings Citation Index” database.
