The international conference "Gender Problem and Modern Azerbaijan", organized jointly by Azerbaijan University and Middlesex University of the United Kingdom, was held online via the ZOOM platform in accordance with the current extreme conditions.

Prof. Yusif Gasimov, Vice-Rector for Science of Azerbaijan University, made an opening speech and informed the foreign guests about the results of the 44-day Patriotic War. The vice-rector said that the military phase of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict ended with the complete victory of Azerbaijan, and our country has restored historical justice by liberating the lands occupied by Armenia for about 30 years. Congratulating the participants of the event on the victory, the vice-rector said that Azerbaijan should be worthy of the great victory in the military phase in the field of international relations, regional politics, economy, social sphere, science and education and continue the relay.

The head of the department of the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of ANAS, Professor Rena Mirzazadeh noted that Azerbaijan closely cooperates with international organizations in the field of gender promotion. She informed about the achievements of our country in the field of gender policy and wished success to the conference.

Then, Professor of Baku State University Rena Ibrahimbayova made a report on "Distance learning and gender issues", Professor of Middlesex University Victoria de Rijke made a report on "The end of gender as we know it, How transfeminist education resources can free men from masculunity ”, Professor of Azerbaijan University Paul Gibbs made a plenary report on“ Global Management of Diversity”.

The conference continued its work at the section meetings.

It should be noted that the scientific event organized at the national level in 2017 and 2018 has been held in international status since 2019. The interest and attention paid to the conference influenced this decision.

The main purpose of the conference is to focus on ensuring gender equality in Azerbaijan, to share scientific achievements and experiences in this field, to analyze existing problems and make proposals for their solutions, to compare the country's achievements in this field with international experience
